WHAT'S IN MY MAKEUP BAG

Hi Beauties,

Today's post is all about what's in my makeup bag :). To be completely honest, as much as I love makeup I just don't carry a makeup bag in my hand bag. My makeup last pretty much all day and I rarely need touch ups, except now for my lips that needs a touch up every few hours, other than that i'm sorted.

The what's in my makeup bag post are mainly things that I seriously can't go without and are practically my everyday makeup products.

GARNIER PURE ACTIVE BB CREAM

My number 1 BB Cream in the world! This is one product I definitely can't go without, it's my everyday beauty balm, it keeps my skin hydrated and looking fresh. What I love about this product is that it's oil free, doesn't cause breakout, its SPF 15 and it last all day.

  • All-In-One Anti-Imperfections
  • Even tones
  • Hydrates
  • Anti-blackheads
  • Mattifies
  • Covers redness

This is one product i'm always using and sometimes I blend it with other bronzer's on my skin.

I'm a huge fan of L.A Girl products and to me they are the most affordable good quality beauty brands, and there products never disappoint. I love that these glosses are matte because I have a weakness for matte lipsticks lol. They very pigmented and always in my bag :)

  • Very pigmented

ESSENCE HOW TO MAKE BROWS WOW

Saving the best for last lol. I cannot live without this brow kit from essence, it's and amazing kit and makes my brow on fleek lol. In the past I made use of the brow pencil and gel however, they didn't work that well for me and that's when I went out shopping and discovered this gorgeous brow kit. I will be doing a full review on this product soon and i'm also hoping to do a brow tutorial as well, but for now believe me when I say that this brow kit from essence cosmetics will change your brows and your life lol.

  • Come's in 3 different brow shades & a highlighter
  • Comes with applicator and tweezers
  • Super affordable

Now that is all i'm currently in my makeup bag at the moment.

MY CURRENT FOUNDATION MUST HAVES

 MY CURRENT FOUNDATION MUST HAVES!

Searching for the right foundation can be so hard at times especially when you have no one to assist you. I was in to make at a very young age and I remember when I bought my first foundation, it was the completely wrong foundation for my skin tone because I ended up looking as white as a ghost. Over the years I haven't made use of foundation only because I was struggling to find the perfect foundation for my skin tone, I eventually found the perfect foundation from two brands that I love.

The first Foundation that I'm crazy about is the MAC STUDIO FIX FLUID, this is one brand that I will always go back to. The MAC Studio Fix Foundation is a thickish liquid which is packaged in a glass jar, this foundation is a medium to buildable full coverage, and it definitely evens out your skin, hiding all imperfections. This foundation sets quite fast and it sets to a semi matte finish, which is great because I love a combination of dewy and matte. The Studio Fix Foundation last reasonably long however, it might differ depending on your skin tone. The shade I have is NC35 (NC - Yellow Under Tones & NW - Pink Under Tones), and I absolutely love this foundation, I would recommend it if you struggling to find a foundation which is right for you and if you do not know what shade is best for your skin tone, don't worry about because the girls at MAC will help you out.

The second foundation that I've also been using lately is the Bobbi Brown foundation stick. This foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation with a soft matte finish, which is great for combination skin. The texture of this foundation is very creamy and smooth and does a great job covering up any imperfections, as much as enjoy using this foundation stick I prefer Bobbi Brown liquid foundation more because that one omw is amazing. However, I'll do a review on that one another time, but overall this foundation is great and this is also one of the foundation that I will recommend.

When applying these foundations it would be best to apply them using a brush because then you will get the best finish. The brushes I use and will recommend would be the  Real Techniques Experts Face Brush and the Stippling Brush.

CALA BEAUTY BLENDER

CALA BEAUTY BLENDER

I have a thing for makeup brushes and my favourite brand is currently Real Techniques because their brushes are too die for but that’s a post for another day (lol). I’ve been searching for a real techniques beauty blender but whenever I’m at Foschini or clicks they are never there. My friend told me about Cala cosmetics beauty blender for sale at Dischem for cheap and that it look pretty decent.

I went to Dischem and bought one just for the sake of buying it, and it looks okay (lol). Honestly, I don’t really like it because it’s a bit too hard and it doesn’t apply makeup that well, my brushes do a better job than it. What I did was I cleaned the beauty blender and the stuck it back in the box so now it’s an ornament on my dresser because I’m never using that thing again (lol)
I really don’t like this beauty blender and just because it doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, and if you have it and it works well for you then thumbs up! I’m glad it’s working for someone. I am going to hunt down the real techniques beauty blender and if you guys know of any other great beauty blenders I should try out, please let me know, I will gladly purchase them.

Review Part 2 : GARNIER PURE ACTIVE MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER

I was meaning to do a post on this product a while ago already however, I never got around to it and now I finally can! You all know by now that I’m a huge fan of Garnier’s products because I’ve mentioned it in part 1 of this post as well as the post on Garnier’s BB Creams.

About this product: Micellar Cleansing Water is an easy way to remove make-up, cleanse and purify the skin, eye area and lips in one step without rinsing.

How does it work: For the first time, Garnier Micellar technology is formulated specifically for combination to oily and sensitive skin. Like a magnet, the cleansing agents capture and lift away dirt, make-up and excess sebum from the skin. Enriched with purifying agents, it helps fight the appearance of impurities. The skin feels refreshed with no need to rub to cleanse and remove make-up.

What I Think: On the bottle, it states that this product is for combination to oily and sensitive skin, which is great for me because my skin changes all the time, and most of the time it changes to oily and I tend to get breakouts. I love the packaging, the water looks like a pale pastel blue colour and it has a pop-up lid that shuts to prevent leakage. This Micellar Cleansing Water removes my makeup very well without irritation or redness and makes my skin feel cleansed and refreshed. In the past I never bought makeup remover products, I only made use of coconut oil which worked really well for me and when I first saw the Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water I was in love the packaging, but skeptical in purchasing this product. The reason I was skeptical at first was because I’m super cheap (lol) and I was definitely not going to waste money on water (lol) however, I went on google and read up on a few reviews, and from what I read it sounded good and I just thought what the hell, I’m going to get it. I bought the product and thought Garnier has never let me down once, and you know what? I love this product! To hell with coconut oil (lol) Micellar Cleansing Water all the way and now I can’t stop using it. This bottle is 400ml = 200 uses, comes from a good brand and it’s very affordable.

If you are not using Garnier’s Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water then you are missing out because this product will Change your life!

How to use it: Apply  the product to a cotton pad and wipe the face, eyes and lips. No rinsing required.

Where to purchase: Clicks & Dischem

MAKEUP EXPIRATION GUIDE

MAKEUP EXPIRATION GUIDE

Did you know makeup has an expiry date? Well guess what, it does and I had no clue (lol). I find it extremely hard to get rid of old makeup because I'm obsessed with it and I like having them look all pretty on my dresser, but using expired makeup can be harmful to your skin.

Over a period of time the consistency of makeup products starts to change and expired makeup begins to harbour bacteria. Using expired makeup on your skin can cause eye infections, blisters, a rash, acne, redness and various skin problems. Therefore, we should really try and not use makeup products after a certain period of time to protect our skin. So let's toss out those old expired one and gets some new ones.

Below is a guideline for expired makeup.

REVIEW: CATRICE ALLROUND CONCEALER

CATRICE ALLROUND CONCEALER

Hello my beauties J Firstly I'd like to apologize for being M. I. A (missing in action) for the pass few weeks, I've just been dealing with some personal issues I've been having and I've been a bit down about certain situations  which has cause me not to blog, but those things shall pass and it's time to get back to blogging J

Today I would like to do a review on a product I've been using for more than a month now and it's called the CATRICE ALLROUND CONCEALER. I don't own a lot of Catrice products, but the ones I do have I really love and I'm very happy with them, so I plan on purchasing many more products from Catrice.

What They Say: A whole palette of options to always look great. With this set of five shades, it’s easy to even out small skin irregularities (beige shades), magic away dark shadows under your eyes (pink shades) and cover up redness (green shade). And application is super pleasant thanks to the creamy texture.

What I Think: This product is always in my bag, I like it and it works well.  The application is very creamy and smooth, I only use green and the pink, but the green shade I use a lot to cover up my redness and it does a pretty good job covering it up as well as the pink shade with my dark shadows under my eyes, it's pretty great.  The other three shades I don't use and I honestly don't know why I haven't use them (lol) The main reason I bought this was because the packaging is so cute and it's a concealer palette and I have a thing for makeup palettes (lol). Overall I love Catrice Cosmetics and I really like this product especially the two shades I use and it's great for when you on the go because then you don't have to travel with so many concealers, you can just throw this into your bag and you will be good to go. Also, Catrice Cosmetics are an affordable brand, inexpensive and great for when you on a budget. I think that you should go out and give the Catrice Allround Concealer a try and let me know your thoughts on this product.

Beige: Covers imperfections
Pink Shade: Conceals dark circles
Green Shade: Neutralises redness

Where to Purchase: Dischem & Red Square

Price: Honestly I’m not sure what the price is because I purchased this product a while ago but I do know it's under R80.00, so as soon as I get proper price I will add it into this post.

Thank you for reading my blog :) Please don't forget to like, subscribe and follow.

REVIEW: L.A. GIRL LUXURY CREME LIPSTICK - DREAMER

About a month or two ago I stumble upon the L.A Girl Luxury Crème Lipstick called Dreamer which is a black lipstick and I’ve been looking everywhere for black lipstick and couldn’t find it anywhere until now. I was super excited when I finally found black lipstick and ever since I bought it, it has just been lying in my dresser because I like to admire makeup for a while before I start messing with them lol. However, I finally decided to use it and here are my thoughts on this particular lipstick.

What they say: Luxury Creme' Lipstick delivers ultra-rich colors in a lightweight formula. Its blend of moisturizing ingredients of aloe, shea butter & vitamin E enhances lips, leaving a smoother, healthier feel. Glides on effortlessly with the slant top, for-flawless even coverage.

What I think: When I saw that L.A Girl has a black lipstick I was so over the moon that grabbed it and ran to the counter because I’ve always wanted black lipstick but could never find one. However, when I wore the lipstick for the first time I was very disappointed because when you apply it, it’s patchy and it takes a while to even out. I used a black liner to line my lips and I coloured my bottom lip with the black liner and then layered the black lipstick on top but it looked messing. The lipstick isn’t long lasting so once you done eating or drinking something you have to re-apply the colour. I personally am not happy with this lipstick but I do know that L.A Girl has another black lipstick in their Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick called Raven which I hoping to get my hands on and hopefully I will love that one. Also, if you guys know of any other place I can get a good black lipstick please let know by leaving a comment on this post.

You can see how light the black lipstick is on my hand.

Here I lost count of how many times I applied the lipstick to get it this dark lol.

Where can you purchase this lipstick: Dischem

Price: R34.95

ESSENCE LONGLASTING LIPSTICK

ESSENCE COSMETICS

What They Say: Longlasting love… you simply have to fall in love with the longlasting lipsticks by essence. The lipsticks provide your lips with intensive color for several hours without drying them out. You’re sure to find whatever you’re looking for – from bright pink to intensive red and chilled-out berry to subtle nude shades. The essence logo on the texture and the matt, black packaging with a ring of color to match the actual color of the lipstick are true eye-catchers!

What I Think: OMW I’m obsessed with this lipstick from Essence and if Essence should ever discontinue this lipstick I will die! I’m a huge fan of essence and I have tons of their products however, my number 1 products are their lipliners and lipsticks. I’m crazy about the 06 Barely There Lipstick that I have backups of them just incase they are discontinued lol (I’m crazy like that lol) I just cannot go without it. The lipstick is very creamy, very smooth, goes on evenly and last very long not matter how much food I eat, what I really love about it is that it doesn’t settle into the cracks of your dry lips, it hydrates your lips making it smooth and luscious. The packaging of this lipstick is so cute with its matte black finish with an Essence logo on it making it look really sleek. The colour is a nude with pinkish undertone I’d say, it’s a gorgeous colour which goes perfect with the Essence 05 Soft Berry lipliner which I also have backups on lol. This lipstick as well as the soft berry lipliner is a 10 out of 10, it’s affordable, the texture is gorgeous and it comes from an amazing brand that I will recommend any day. So if you looking for a very good lipstick at an affordable price then head down to the mall go and grab some lipsticks from Essence, you will not be disappointed!

Where Can I Purchase This Product: Clicks & Dischem

Price: R44.50 & you can get the soft berry lipliner for R18.95

GET RID OF OILY HAIR WITH BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO

Batiste

Hey all my beautiful babes J today’s post is about freshening up oily hair. For those of you who don’t know I have very oily hair, I can wash my hair today and tomorrow it will start becoming oily again and if I wash my hair every second day my skull becomes dry and itchy. So finally, I found a dry shampoo that works wonders for me and it’s the Batiste Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair.

What they say: Batiste Dry Shampoo for dark and deep brown hair is perfect to use between washes. A quick burst refreshes and revitalises hair and removes any excess oil. Hair feels gorgeously clean and fresh with added body and texture. The hint of colour compliments darker shades and helps blend in root re-growth on coloured hair.

What I Think: I love this product! Especially for my hair because it soaks up the oil, refreshes my hair and it's tinted! I have tried the Tresemme dry shampoo but it didn’t work for my hair and I think it only really works well for people with light hair whereas the Batiste has a wide range of dry shampoos. The one I have is the Dark and Deep Brown with a hint of colour and then there are the ones for blonde hair, medium and brunette, vibrant red and various different scented ones. This is one product I can’t go without, it’s always in my bag and on my dresser. I like that you don’t get a powdery look when you apply this product like most other dry shampoo’s tend to leave in your hair, however, because its tinted, when you run your fingers through your hair or even scratch your head you will get the colour on your fingers but besides that this product is amazing at refreshing oily hair!

How to Apply Dry Shampoo: Shake vigorously before use. Keep nozzle about 30cm from hair, spray into roots. Massage through with fingertips. Brush and style.

I just washed my hair the day before and it's oily again.

They say you suppose to hold it 30 cm from your hair but I usually do things my way after a while lol

The Final Result

Goodbye Greasy Hair

Where can you get this product: Clicks

Price: I paid R80 for it but sometimes it’s on special and you can buy 2 for the price of one.

L.A. GIRL COSMETICS & ESSENCE COSMETICS

L.A. GIRL COSMETICS & ESSENCE COSMETICS

L.A. GIRL HD. PRO. CONCEALER

Where did I hear about these concealers: I usually buy my gel eyeliner from L.A.Girl at Dischem and I’ve always followed them on Instagram because they have great products at very affordable price. One day I went scrolling through Instagram and saw these concealers on their profile, I then immediately went on YouTube to checkout some reviews on these products and then that weekend I went down to the mall, went into Dischem an grab a few concealers and since then I’ve always been using it.

What they say: according to L.A. Girl this product is:
Crease-resistant, opaque coverage in a creamy yet lightweight texture. The long-wearing formula camouflages darkness under the eyes, redness and skin imperfections. Provides complete, natural-looking coverage, evens skin tone, covers dark circles and minimizes fine lines around the eyes.

This blendable and buildable formula provides the ultimate, customizable coverage. This must-have concealer includes a soft brush-tip for easy application.

-Camouflages the appearance of skin imperfections
-Evens out skin tone
-Covers dark circles
-Minimizes fine lines
-Provides customizable coverage

What I think:
I think this is a pretty good product an I’m very happy with it and what makes it even better is that it’s super affordable which I love even more however, it doesn’t really cover up my fine lines as I hoped it would but they are very good with covering up breakouts and redness. Also, they are great for contouring and they not oily at all, they are more of a demi matte kind of concealer and are super easy to apply and very user friendly. Despite that it doesn’t cover my fine lines that much, I do really love this products because it does cover most of my imperfections and they are buildable so maybe I should just try an add little more to my fine lines and take it from. They are super cheap an affordable, they come in 18 different shades so you will definitely find the shade you need, I have them in 3 different shades which are pure beige, medium beige and chestnut. They are a must try product and in my case it’s a must have product for me.

WHERE CAN YOU PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT:
You can purchase this product at any Dischem store in South Africa or you can purchase it from their website: www.lagirlusa.com

PRICE: I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s about R45 each. I will double check the price and if it’s incorrect I’ll change to the correct price.

ESSENCE COVERSTICK

Where did I hear about this product:
Essence is a very well-known brand that is used by millions and millions of people all around the world. I have always been a fan of this brand! I have been using this brand for so many years that whenever I’m in the cosmetic section I’m always checking out essence first to see what new products they and that’s how I came across the essence coverstick concealer.

What they say: according to Essence:

The coverstick quickly and reliably covers up small spots, redness and impurities of the skin. Conceals skin imperfections with a fine matt finish. The formula with allantoin calms the skin. Ideal for all skin types and it’s dermatologically tested.

What I think:
I think the packaging is so cute and it’s great for when you on the go but it’s not my favourite. This is a matte concealer but it’s just way to dry on my skin and it looks very cakey which I don’t like so I think this would be great for someone with oily skin however, it does have good coverage and it’s very smooth when you apply it but I won’t recommend it if you have dry skin, I’d then suggest you try their liquid concealers with are actually very good. These cover sticks come in 4 different shades and I currently have it in the 01 MATT SAND. I just recently saw that they come in the PURE SKIN range as well so, they have the anti-spot one but they only have it in 2 shades which is disappointing because they way too light for my skin tone and I’m a huge fan of anti-spot products. Essence is an amazing cosmetic brand and they are very affordable and I always recommend their products but this particular product I’ll only recommend for people with oily skin but if you have dry skin and would love to try then go for it and let me know how it goes and if it works for you.

WHERE CAN YOU PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT:
You can purchase essences products at any Clicks or Dischem store.

PRICE:
R39.95
